Marcy Field is many things: a public-use airport, the site of a farmers market, a hiking trailhead, and a place where your dogs can run in an open field.
Getting there
From Keene, Marcy Field is approximately 3-miles south on Route 73. It is about 2-miles north of Keene Valley on Route 73. Recently, the hiker parking lot at Marcy Field has been the drop off/pick up site for the Town of Keene Hiker Shuttle.
Hiking
The Town of Keene shuttle from Marcy Field to The Garden will operate on Saturdays and Sundays through the fall. This shuttle is free and runs continuously from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Some of the hikes accessible from this shuttle are:
- Big Slide
- Haystack (the High Peak) via The Garden
- John Brooks Lodge
- Gothics via The Garden
- Saddleback via The Garden
- Basin via The Garden
- Upper and Lower Wolfjaws via The Garden
In addition, there is a hiking trail that leaves directly from Marcy Field and does not require the shuttle. The mountains accessible directly from the parking lot are:
- Blueberry Mountain
- Cascade and Porter via the Blueberry trail
* A reminder: all these hikes are located in the High Peaks Wilderness and all hikers should be fully prepared for a challenging hike. *
