World-class competition isn't just a thing of the past! From World Cup sliding sports to Skate America figure skating, the best of the best still come to Lake Placid to make their mark on winter sports. 

In January 2023, Lake Placid welcomed the world for the 2023 World University Games, the world's largest collegiate winter sports event. Over 10 days, events at the Legacy Sites, including Alpine skiing at Whiteface Mountain and hockey at the Olympic Center, featured world-class athletes and potential Olympians and helped to continue the exceptional sporting history of this amazing town!
