Experience the Olympics in action
Not everyone can say the Olympics took place in their own backyard. We can, and we love to share that experience! Today, you can tour many of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Legacy Sites, no matter the season!

Lake Placid’s Olympic venues offer unforgettable experiences today. At the Olympic Center, visitors can enjoy year-round public skating, hockey tournaments, the Olympic Museum, and guided tours that include the rink where the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” took place. The Olympic Jumping Complex draws attention with its dramatic 100- and 128-meter ski jumps, an elevator ride to sweeping Adirondack views, and a zipline ride back to the base. Nearby, Mt. Van Hoevenberg invites visitors to experience bobsled, luge, and skeleton, along with cross-country skiing, biathlon, hiking, and an indoor climbing gym. At Whiteface Mountain, ski the same terrain used for alpine events in winter or take a summer gondola ride to the summit for expansive mountain views.
If you're looking to visit multiple Olympic Legacy Sites, the Legacy Sites Passport is perfect for you! One unbeatable price will get you a single admission to all four sites, plus 10% off shopping and dining at all the Legacy Sites, and bonus free admission to a host of fun events over the summer!
The world comes to Lake Placid
World-class competition isn't just a thing of the past! From World Cup sliding sports to Skate America figure skating, the best of the best still come to Lake Placid to make their mark on winter sports.
In January 2023, Lake Placid welcomed the world for the 2023 World University Games, the world's largest collegiate winter sports event. Over 10 days, events at the Legacy Sites, including Alpine skiing at Whiteface Mountain and hockey at the Olympic Center, featured world-class athletes and potential Olympians and helped to continue the exceptional sporting history of this amazing town!
