A vacation doesn't have to mean breaking the bank

You've chosen your vacation dates, your room is booked, and now it's down to the fun part — deciding what to do. How about we help you (and your budget) out? Lake Placid and the surrounding villages offer a host of free events throughout the season. As a matter of fact, it's hard to pinpoint a single day when there isn't at least two or more possibilities for you to choose from. The hardest part about vacationing in the Adirondacks is juggling your schedule — concerts, dance, art shows, theater performances, nature walks, museum tours, film screenings, farmers markets, and kids programs — the list goes on and on.

Are the kids in tow?

  • How about Free Story Hour at the Bookstore Plus, followed by an afternoon hike up a small mountain, or a stroll through Henry's Woods? There are several awesome one -to two-hour hikes that start right in the village!
  • Not into hiking? Pack a picnic and relax at the town beach, or go to one of the free Songs at Mirror Lake concerts. Why not visit one of the many local farmers markets in the area and get a true taste of the Adirondacks?

An evening with a view

  • The Lake Placid Sinfonietta holds a free concert in Mid's Park every Wednesday evening in July and early August. It's the perfect place to settle down and watch the sunset after a romantic stroll around Mirror Lake.
  • The Wilmington town beach is home to the popular Thursday evening concert series. Artists rotate weekly, but the experience is always fun. Bring a picnic or barbecue on site, then settle in to listen to the sounds of music by the river.

Take a few minutes to scroll through the list of great events below. These fun, informative, and festive programs are sure to leave you with fond memories of your visit.

What, oh what, will you choose?
