Theatre and Film in the Adirondacks
Get in on incredible productions
It's no wonder the Adirondacks is a hot spot for makers and artists. Surrounded by stunning scenery, a charming community, and a region that devotes itself to the arts, Lake Placid is an incubator for creatives to thrive and show off their work with pride. The best place to take it all in? At local performance and movie theaters of course!
If you're interested in professional theater, community theater, or limited-run, foreign, and independent film you're in for a treat. The Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) is not limited to just films, but also offers a variety of performing arts including plays, prominent dance companies, comedy shows, "Live from the Met" performances, and musical artists throughout the year.

Movie night at the Palace Theatre
Located on Main Street in Lake Placid is another hub for films. Our locally owned Palace Theatre first opened its doors in 1926, although renovated since, its lobby, stairs, halls, and first-floor movie theater boast vintage. For movie lovers, this beautiful theater shows first-run movies on four screens throughout the year with weekend and summer matinees. Even after 96 years of operation, it is still one of Lake Placid's best options for spending an afternoon or evening with your family, friends, or maybe just yourself, enjoying the movie magic in a timeless atmosphere. And don't forget to get a huge bucket of popcorn for sharing! Movie showtimes can be found on the Palace Theater Facebook page.

The Lake Placid Film Festival
Each October, Adirondack Film hosts the Lake Placid Film Festival, delivering an appreciation for cinematography to the Adirondacks. For 4 days, the Lake Placid Film Festival brings together industry professionals, movie buffs, and amateurs alike, to enjoy American and International films, shorts, panels, master classes and more. It is a great opportunity to be included in an exciting part of the film industry.
