There is so much activities around the Adirondack Park that I am not sure where to start. Though flowers are wonderful (I am a huge fan.) and breakfast in bed is a treat, sometimes being able to relax and hang out with the reason that I am a mother is the best gift of all. My own mother is going to be spending Mother's Day with me this year, so we have all sorts of special treats planned that we hope will please all the generations in our household.
My mother is not much for hiking, but she truly enjoys a nature walk. She loves looking at flowers and just being outside. The options are numerous around Lake Placid. A gentle walk around Mirror Lake or Henry's Woods is always a great thing to do. Perhaps walk the 2.7 miles around Mirror Lake after a nice meal at one of the many Lake Placid restaurants or spa treatment. John Brown Farm Historic Site also offers beautiful views and the ability to bring a picnic. Getting outside and having a place for the kids to run about is always a good thing.
Spring flowers are out along the trails. We will be bringing our flower identifcation book, taking pictures and putting everying together for a Mother's Day memory book.

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake is hosting its annual Community Day on Mother's Day. The Wild Center is offering free admission, 10 am-5 pm, with a full schedule of events and activities. Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake (518-891-1854) always offers mothers free admission on Mother's Day. This year's children's show is Pinocchio at 1 pm.
However you choose to spend your day, I hope you are able to have a relaxing time with family.
