Learning to ski at Whiteface Mountain
Bear Den Mountain offers convenient parking for those looking to access Whiteface Mountain’s beginner-friendly terrain. From here, you can easily reach the Bear Den Mountain Learning Center, where you’ll find expert instructors ready to guide you through ski and snowboard lessons. The area also provides access to a variety of gentle slopes, perfect for beginners to practice and build their skills before exploring more challenging runs. It’s an ideal spot for families and novice skiers looking to enjoy a relaxed day on the mountain.


Try these trails
You can access Whiteface Mountain's green trails from a variety of chairlifts, including the Warhorse, Face Lift, The Notch, and Falcon Flyer—be sure to check the trail map and visit the Whiteface website for up-to-date information on open trails and lifts before heading to the mountain.
At Whiteface Mountain, if you're accessing chairlifts from the Base Lodge, you can reach several green trails via the Warhorse Chairlift, including Fox, Deer, Bear, Wolf, Wolf Run, Ausable Run, Mixing Bowl, and Round-A-Bout. The Base Lodge also provides access to the Face Lift, which leads to the Easy Way green trail, bringing you back to the base via Boreen. For green trail access from Bear Den Mountain, the Falcon Flyer Chairlift is your best option, offering access to Flying Squirrel, Otter, and Loon. Additionally, from Bear Den, you can take the Notch Chairlift to explore Boreen, Bobcat, Moose, Runner Up, Coyote Cut, and a variety of other easy terrain.
