Get here, plan your parking strategy, and utilize the shuttle system during your visit to ensure safe and seamless travel during the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games. Note that some events during the games will be in surrounding regions, and require further travel.

Lake Placid is accessible by car, bus, and plane. Lake Placid is near two airports, Albany Int'l Airport and Plattsburgh Airport.

Parking in Lake Placid

Parking downtown

Vehicle access to downtown Lake Placid will be restricted during the Games.

Public parking will be available at:

  • Lake Placid Marina (24 George & Bliss Ln)    
  • Lake Placid Golf House (88 Morningside Dr)
  • Horse Show Grounds at 5514 Cascade Road
  • Permit parking only at the Upper NBT lot

The shuttles

Three shuttles will be running throughout the games: The Placid XPRSS, which will have a special schedule for the games; the Whiteface Mountain Ski Shuttle, which stops at locations throughout the village and surrounding area; and a shuttle direct from the Horse Show Grounds parking area to Main Street.

The shuttles are free to ride and can provide convenient transportation to venues, hotels, and various locations around the region.

The shuttles can be flagged and stop for you along the routes, as long as it is safe to do so. Download the schedules below.

  • The Whiteface Mountain Ski Shuttle
  • The Horse Show Grounds Shuttle will run on a continuous loop between the Horse Show Grounds parking area and the Municipal Parking Lot on Main Street, 24 hours a day. Please note: there is no parking at the Municipal Lot; this is a drop off and pickup location only.
