52st Annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament
Date: July 24th-26th, 2026
Location: Various venues in Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and Lake Placid
Considered one of the largest and best-run rugby events in the world, the Can-Am Tournament was created in 1973 by the Mountaineers Rugby Club and is proud to be celebrating its 51st year. The inaugural event was an eight-team affair that quickly doubled and has since mushroomed into a mid-summer tradition with 110+ teams converging on the Adirondacks.
Mission:
The Can-Am Rugby Tournament is committed to giving back to the community that supports it. Each year, the tournament awards scholarships to local high schools and colleges, including Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and Lake Placid High Schools, North Country Community College, and Paul Smith’s College. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, community service, character, and involvement in athletics.
Additionally, the tournament financially supports local youth sports teams, including Pee Wee Hockey, high school football, little league, youth basketball, and baseball, high school rugby, and the Saranac Lake Summer Youth program.
Event Highlights:
- Rugby Matches: Over 100 teams competing in various venues.
- Family Activities: Fun for all ages with activities planned throughout the weekend.
- Live Music: Enjoy live performances and entertainment.
- Community Support: Proceeds go towards local scholarships and youth sports programs.
