Long Pond

This pond can only be reached by boat and carry from Connery Pond. You will put-in at Connery Pond is at the location below. Paddle to the north end Connery Pond and locate the outlet for Long Pond. The carry is only about 0.2 miles but is rather rugged and narrow.

Getting there

How to get there: From the intersection of Route 73 and Route 86 in Lake Placid, follow Route 86 toward Wilmington. Continue for just under 3-miles to the Connery Pond Road (dirt) on the left. Drive to the end (0.75 miles) to the parking for Whiteface Landing. The short carry trail to Connery Pond is just prior to the chain gate on the west side of the outlet.

Paddling

The put-in at Long Pond can be a bit tough because of the sunken boulders and rocks along shore. This is a very shallow pond that gets very little visitor interaction. Nice views from on water with the potential of wildlife of all sorts. This pond is also sheltered so it can almost always be counted on as being very calm.
