Why drive when you can take the bus for free?

The Mountain Valley Shuttle offers free public transportation service between Lake Placid and Ausable Forks. It features three shuttles daily from the town of Ausable Forks and the village of Jay to Whiteface Mountain. The shuttle stops are located at the Ausable Forks Tops, Ausable Forks Post Office and Jay Village Green. The town of Wilmington will have four shuttle stops per day, bringing passengers from the Wilmington Visitors Bureau to Whiteface. Riders can connect with the Lake Placid Xpress at the Lake Placid Conference Center and beginning December 12, the Mountain Valley Shuttle partners with ORDA to provide transportation for skiers and riders to and from Whiteface Mountain.

Shuttle departures for Whiteface begin at Price Chopper in the Outpost Plaza at 6:55 each morning from December 12, 2025 - March 11, 2026, with stops at many of the lodging properties with the exception of Main St. where the shuttle will not make flag stops anymore..

Lake Placid Xpress

The Lake Placid Xpress Green Trolleys also operate throughout the winter and include a stop at the Conference Center to transfer riders to the Mountain Valley Shuttle bus departing for Whiteface. Check the Placid Xprss shuttle schedule for times: Placid XPRSS

Lake Placid Express Notice of Schedule Change: Due to injury and driver shortage, effective January 8, 2026, Lake Placid Xpress will be running an abbreviated schedule until further notice. If a time is shown on the schedule, then the shuttle will be stopping there.
