World Figure and Fancy Skating
The 2026 World Figure & Fancy Skating Championships on black ice is from October 7-11, 2026 in Lake Placid, NY in the Olympic Center’s 1932 Arena.
This international skating event blends the sport of figures and fancy skating with fine art, including performance, decorative, and recording arts, to offer a unique combination of a world-class skating competition and cultural celebration with a festival atmosphere.
This auspicious international event also includes as central features the following components:
A fine decorative art and recording art exhibit
A day of practice and filming of competitors and their works on black ice
Lessons and workshops for skaters of all levels
A day of accessible family skating that welcomes people of all abilities
A Saturday finals competition
A fancy Sunday evening ball that blends the event’s historical aspects with modernity
Tiffany Awards, bestowing jeweled antique skate blades to winners

Pop-up Museum open to the public in the 1932 Hallway and Art Gallery & Contest, available Wednesday through Sunday.

Thursday, October 8

Tickets & Donations
Spectator admission is free of charge. Get your free tickets. Donations are accepted at the door and online at the World Figure Sport website to support the work of the not-for-profit WFSS, including this annual event and skating scholarships. Paid VIP tickets are also available.
Attendees should confirm their tickets in advance.
History
The not-for-profit World Figure Sport Society (WFSS) was founded in 2015. At the same time, the first-ever World Figure Championship on black ice was held at the historic Olympic Center in Lake Placid. WFSS’s Skating Hall of Fame was also launched that same year, with Dick Button, who famously trained in Lake Placid under coach Gustave Lussi, among many skating legends attending the induction ceremony. This is the third year WFSS is bringing the World Championship event back to Lake Placid, establishing the Olympic Village as the event’s home.
