About
History Hike: Lyman Eppes and the 'Timbucto' Project
November 13 | Location Shared after Registration
On this roughly 2-mile hilly hike on an old farm road, talk along the way will focus on the story of African American settlers here in the mid-1800s, and we'll discuss Lyman Eppes' land grant and his family's life in North Elba, and other local history as we like. We’ll head for the SW corner of great lot 84 (from Thorn’s survey of the region in 1804), and return along the same route. With leaves off the trees, we can view the surrounding landscape. This hike will not start at John Brown Farm. Please register to find out details.
