ADK Mountain Club: Guided Mt. Jo Winter Hike
ADK Mountain Club: Guided Mt. Jo Winter Hike
Registration is required for this program. Health insurance is also required to participate in the program.
Whether you are working on getting more comfortable recreating in the winter, uncomfortable hiking on your own, or just looking for a great winter hike in the mountains, this guided trip is for you. This hike is perfect for those looking to get the experience of summiting a mountain in the winter without the rigor of an Adirondack High Peak. While good physical condition is required, this hike can be done at a more moderate pace. We will also pause along the way to learn about local natural and cultural history.
This program is a guided day hike to Mt. Jo (elevation 2,876’, 2.5 miles round-trip with approximately 678’ of elevation gain). After introductions and a trip overview, we’ll embark on our journey to this Adirondack summit. The trip will be led by ADK’s Education Department staff.
Prior snowshoeing experience is recommended but not required. Good physical condition, proper winter clothing, and proper equipment are a must.
