Owned and operated by Historic Saranac Lake, the Saranac Laboratory Museum highlights Saranac Lake's unique history as a tuberculosis treatment destination. The Museum features exhibits on local history, science, and patient care, as well as rotating special exhibits on local history topics. The Museum gift shop offers books on a wide variety of local history topics and souvenirs.
The Museum is open year-round, Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 - 5:00. Admission is $5, and children and members of Historic Saranac Lake are free of charge.
Weekly tours of area historic sites are offered through the summer season, and limited tours are available by reservation in the off season or for special groups.
Historic Saranac Lake also oversees the Bartok Cabin, where the great composer spent the last summer of his life. Tours of the cabin are provided by appointment only.
