While we're hoping current forecasts are incorrect, we thought we'd give you some ideas for events that will be mostly weatherproof around the region. If the sun comes out, all the better, as there are lots more outside events as well!

Cultural events are a pretty safe bet, with most all of them taking place inside. The Lake Placid Center for the Arts presents the Community Theatre Players performance of EVITA with three performances Friday through Sunday, while Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake will present ALADDIN AND THE WONDERFUL LAMP with performances on Friday and Saturday.

Celebrating its first birthday this weekend is the Adirondack Carousel, with festivities, birthday cake and free rides (indoor carousel) on the magnificent hand-carved Adirondack animals. In addition, Merri-loons the Clown will be on hand as well as a book signing by Gary, Justin and Carol VanRiper, authors of the new book, The Carousel Case, as well as other several other kids books.

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake

There are several attractions which don't necessarily have events, but have indoor exhibits and are an excellent choice for a rainy day - The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, The Paul Smith's Visitor Interpretive Center, the local history museums,, and for a day trip, Fort Ticonderoga.  Of course, there are always first run movies at the historic Palace Theatre in Lake Placid. Visit our website for many more activities options for this Memorial Day Weekend and have a great time inventing your own perfect day!

P.S. - You could bag everything else and just go shopping!!
