In the High Peaks Region we live to be outdoors once the warm air pushes winter away for good. Our summer schedule is filled with a multitude of outdoor events to keep you moving well into the fall.
Fun all summer long
Our first major event of the season brings runners from all over the country and world to participate in the Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon, taking place this year on June 14. An event to watch for sure, the mass start an amazing sight snaking up through the closed Main Street.
Music lovers listen up!
Don’t miss the Second Annual Lake Placid Blues and Heritage Festival from June 19 - 21. The Northeast’s top blues entertainers return to Main Street Lake Placid for a weekend of fun and awesome music. The first festival was an event which those who missed wished they hadn’t.
We're not horsing around here
As we move into true summer, The Lake Placid, Adirondack and I Love New York Horse Shows take center stage from June 23 - July 12 this year. Some of the best on the international show jumping circuit will take to the ring for big money prizes over the course of the two weeks.
Not to miss entertainment for the 4th
For those visiting during Independence Day weekend, Lake Placid pulls out all the stops. The ever popular I Love BBQ and Music Festival will run this year from July 2 - 5. Come out and watch some of the best BBQ competitors in the country, taste their creations and listen to some awesome live music at this popular annual event. And for July 4th don't miss all the celebrations including our annual parade and blockbuster "Set the Night to Music" fireworks extravaganza!

Summer rolls along with cultural events, festivals, farmers markets, concerts and enough to keep you hopping all through the season.
If you find yourself in town the last weekend in July, make sure you watch some or all of the Ironman Lake Placid race on July 26. The amazing 7 a.m. start alone is something to behold as over 3,000 swimmers hit Mirror Lake en masse for the 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile road bike and a full marathon run. A grueling day for the athletes, but an amazing competition to watch.
Sporting events like Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse and then Can Am Rugby follow Ironman with the largest gatherings of the sports in North America.
