Events in Lake Placid
We’ve been very busy this winter and as we head into Spring we’ve got some really exciting and fun events for everyone.
Lake Placid Nordic Festival
Lake Placid plays host to the inaugural Lake Placid Nordic Festival beginning on February 27. It’s a three-day weekend full of great activities for skiers and non-skiers alike. Dinners, entertainment and cross-country ski events, music, races and educational clinics fill the schedule - and some of them are absolutely FREE! Check it out and come out and join us to celebrate this centuries-old form of skiing.
3rd Annual World Music Festival
The region’s cultural life is vibrant, especially in winter when folks are looking for some warm, indoor options. One annual event not to miss is the World Music Festival, now in its third year. With live entertainment, workshops and lots of kids activities, you’ll want to be sure not to miss this event on March 7.
Where Champions Are Made
In the sports department, Lake Placid welcomes a couple of college events in March. College skiing takes over Whiteface Mountain and Mt. Van Hoevenberg from March 11 - 14, when the NCAA Division I Championships hit town. With both nordic and alpine events, you’ll get to see some of our up and coming Olympians for sure. Then don’t miss the ECAC Division I Hockey Championship on March 20 and 21. The top four college hockey teams in the East will converge on Lake Placid in a tournament to take home top honors and move on to the national championship. This is some of the best college hockey you’ll see in America, so if you’re a hockey fan, plan to be here.
Adirondack Maple Festival Weekend
Maple Fest, on the last weekend in March, celebrates all things maple! With tastings, recreational races, entertainment and restaurant and retail specials and promotions, you won’t want to miss this annual event marking the arrival of Spring and the maple sap flowing!
