Bobsled, Free Style Skiing, World Cup & Empire State Games
Lake Placid’s schedule is really shaping up with lots of entertaining, as well as public participation events throughout the coming winter. FIBT World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton
action heats up the Olympic Bobrun at Mt. Van Hoevenberg on December 13th through 15th. As they are gearing up for Sochi, you’ll be seeing the athletes who will be competing in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, up close and personal.
In late December, the Olympic Jumping Complex hosts USA ski jumpers
as they soar off both the 90 and 120 meter hills for trophies and bragging rights in this annual competition. Olympic hopefuls once again take the stage as USANA FIS Freestyle skiing
hits town January 15 - 18th. One of the final World Cup events before Sochi, this is an event not to miss. From the moguls to the mind-bending freestyle aerials off the big kickers with at the Olympic Jumping Complex, these athletes will truly amaze you. The aerial event is one of our most popular winter spectator events!
Nordic skiers will converge January 25th on the cross country ski trails at Mt. Van Hoevenberg to compete in the 31st annual Lake Placid Loppett and Kort Loppet
. Open to classical and freestyle skiers, the Loppett is a 50K race (31-miles) through the 1980 Olympic ski trails. The Kort Loppett is half the distance, at 25K.
February 6th - 9th will bring us the annual Empire State Winter Games. Athletes from all over New York State converge on Lake Placid to compete in numerous winter sports in the largest state-based athletic games competition in the USA.
