Exciting Summer Events in Lake Placid
In the High Peaks Region we live to be outdoors once the warm air pushes winter away for good. Our summer schedule is filled with a multitude of outdoor events to keep you moving well into the fall.
Run in June
Our first major event of the summer brings runners from all over the world to participate in the Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon, taking place this year on June 9. An event to watch for sure, the mass start an amazing sight snaking up through the closed Main Street. Then on June 15, runners congregate in Keene Valley for the Great Adirondack Trail Run, a sensational race up and down some of the great High Peaks.
Horse Around at the Lake Placid Horse Shows
As we move into true summer, The Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows take center stage from June 25 - July 7 this year. Some of the best on the international show jumping circuit will take to the ring for big money prizes over the course of the two weeks.
4th of July in Lake Placid
For those visiting during Independence Day weekend, Lake Placid pulls out all the stops:
- 4th of July Parade starting at 5:00pm
- Fireworks over Mirror Lake at 9:45pm
- I Love BBQ and Music Festival runs from July 4 - July 6

If you find yourself in town the last weekend in July, make sure you watch some or all of the Ironman Lake Placid race on July 28. This amazing event starts at 7 a.m. with over 3,000 swimmers in Mirror Lake for the 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile road bike and a full marathon run. A grueling day for the athletes, but an amazing competition to watch. Sporting events like Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse and then Can Am Rugby follow the Ironman with the largest gatherings of the sports in North America.
