I'm here for you

It's okay, I know how hard you're trying to keep up with your New Year's resolution. You've made it for a month now. I support you. I think it's great that you're sticking to your guns. As a matter of fact, I'm going to help you out.

I won't invite you to taste the town with me, I'm simply going to show you alllll the tasty things you're missing - y'know, so you can live vicariously through me. It's a tough choice, but hey, someone's got to do it. I'll take this one for the giving-up-everything-tasty-and-bad-for-you team.

But, where to begin? We've done so many yummy tastings in the past! Should we do some family-friendly dining, or go all out with the girls? Perhaps some sassy date-night drinks or a morning-after breakfast is in order? Let's do a quick recap of some of our choices - before we decide exactly where we're going to indulge this time around. Choices, choices.

Breakfast, perhaps?

Crepes, you say?
Crepes, you say?

We should probably start with the most important meal of the day, right? Crepes and carbs it is. Oh, the sweet, sweet goodness.

If you're looking for crepes, try Big Mountain Deli & Creperie in the heart of downtown. Not quite sure what a crepe is? Stand outside the window and watch the magic being created by the chef.

Want more of an old-fashioned, bottomless cup of coffee, joint? One of our favorite places is the Downtown Diner. And yes, in true diner fashion, they serve breakfast all day and close in mid-afternoon.

Mmmmm diner pancakes!

Maybe a mid-day meal...

Speaking of carbs, perhaps we should head to the 'Dack Shack. Oliver claims they have the BEST macaroni in the world. (I'd be offended, but as anyone that knows me will attest, I can't even boil pasta correctly.) Their burgers are pretty darn tasty as well.

Of course, Big Slide Brewery & Public House serves up a mean lunch, and who can resist a sip or two from one of their flights of beer? I mean, hey, there can't be many calories in one of those little tiny glasses, right?

mmm, yes, that is a flight of locally brewed beer in the background!

Snack time!

Who can resist a pub pretzel and wings!?

It seems we all now know where the bulk of my calories come from. So, continuing with the theme...

Pretzels! Beer! Oh, how I love the Lake Placid Pub & Brewery's pretzels. Yeah, yeah, I know you can buy them on any street corner in the city, but in the Adirondacks they're not quite as prevalent. And, in my humble opinion, a cold Moose Island makes a perfect pairing.

Sometimes I try to make healthier choices. After a long day of hiking or skiing, Top of the Park is a great place to relax - with a signature drink and sassy appetizers.

Dinner, anyone?

Why not sit at the bar? That's convenient!

When I don't have the child in tow, sushi from Bangkok Thai is the way to indulge. Of course, since they share space, if you eat at the bar you can order from the Nicola's Italian menu as well. (Yes, yes, I do mix my choices. You'd be surprised how well bruschetta goes with a California roll!)

Speaking of Italian... check out the meatball and pizza below! Looking to break the diet with some red sauce? This was certainly a memorable meal from Lisa G's!

Drink time!

What to try, what to try!?

Cheers!

Maybe, dessert will take the cake?

Oh. My.
Oh. My.

Uhmmmm, need I say more?

Ohhhhhh. My.
Ohhhhhh. My.

Hungry yet?

Old favorite.
Old favorite.

So, after looking over some of these awesome places that I've had the pleasure of dining at in the past year, I've narrowed down my next indulgence to two choices...

What do you think? If you were going to break your resolution would you go with an old favorite (Irish nachos, as pictured above) or start the new year off with a new dish from Lake Placid's newest eatery? I hear the sauce is fabulous at Eleanor's Pasta Kitchen!

New contender.

Yummmm... ready to break your resolution? Hey, it's okay - you can blame me. I should never have been so cruel.

Just keep this in mind — wherever you choose to dine in the Lake Placid region, you'll have quick access to plenty of awesome outdoor activities to help counteract those pesky calories.

See how easy it is to justify your indulgence!? You're welcome.
