If you read any history of Lake Placid you'll find mentions of events of many sorts. The lively atmosphere of Lake Placid and the entire region is directly related to the

many events taking place year round.

December events ramp up with the Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll, which took place over the past weekend and was a resounding success. A traditionally slow weekend has been turned into a major fun family event taking place over three days, always the second weekend in December. Holiday Stroll vacation packages at many hotels give added bonuses at the different lodging properties such as breakfasts with Santa, meal plans, kids' events, live entertainment and more. Most local retail stores, restaurants and bars offer weekend holiday-themed discounts, specials and live entertainment. Make a plan to attend next year's Holiday Village Stroll from December 6 - 8.

During the Christmas/New Years week in Lake Placid, sporting events will include two traditional ski jumping competitions, the New Year's Masters Ski Jump and the NYSEF 90K New Year's Ski Jump. In addition, the 27th Annual Stars on Ice figure skating show premiers at the Lake Placid Olympic Center on December 30.
