LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Over 250 teams, male and female, from middle school players to Masters divisions, will dominate the Lake Placid sports and Main Street scenes August 1-7 when Subway presents the 27th Annual Summit Lacrosse Classic in Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa. 

The tournament will take place at the North Elba Athletic Fields, Lake Placid Central School District Horseshow Grounds, and Northwood School, in Lake Placid. Scholastic action opens the event on Monday, with adult teams taking to the fields Wednesday through Sunday. There is no admission fee.

 “This is the summer highlight for the players and for us as organizers,” said tournament founder and director George Leveille. “The players and their families enjoy the games surrounded by the beauty of the Adirondack High Peaks. All of us are blessed to be involved in the game we love, all in the midst of this amazing environment.” 

For the first time in the event’s history, Major League Lacrosse will showcase its legendary alumni in a contest that will air on the Lax Sports Network. The game is set for Friday, August 5 at 6 PM, and will also air on www.lakeplacidlax.com/mll.

All proceeds will be donated to the Headstrong Foundation and the Ranger Lead The Way Fund, both integral parts of the lacrosse community.

“We are all so grateful for the opportunity afforded to both organizers and participants of the Lake Placid Summit Classic, and at Summit Lacrosse Ventures we feel a responsibility to give back,” said Ashley Gersuk Murphy. “It is particularly special to contribute to two organizations, Headstrong and Lead The Way, who are directly related to our lacrosse community.”

Another highlight of the summit tournament is the emergence of the Girl’s High School Gold Division. It will be comprised of players committed to NCAA Division I schools such as the University of North Carolina, Northwestern, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Maryland, Florida, Cornell, Dartmouth, Colgate, Arizona State and Ohio State.
