The Lake Placid Center for the Arts - don't overlook it!

For those of you not familiar with the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA), it would be worth your while to check out their offerings when planning a vacation or even a couple of days in Lake Placid. With all the amazing events and workshops, you could almost build an entire trip around things to do at LPCA.LPCA Entrance

Check the adult workshops page and see if one of the classes would spark some latent talent you'd love to try to develop! There are even one day classes in pastel and jewelry making. The jewelry making classes also involve wine tasting and are loads of fun - I took one last year! Perhaps you want to find an exercise class while visiting. LPCA offers a Saturday morning Zoomba class every week that anyone is welcome to join.

In addition to the classes and workshops, the offerings in the performing arts are incredible for such a small village. From the US Air Force Band of Liberty (a free concert) to The Second City and National Theatre Live, to name just a few, LPCA has some very entertaining performances and events to wow you. Check out the 3 Friday night film series of the year for some award winning showings. LPCA is also home to a residency program by the Elisa Monte Dance Company and welcomed to its stage principals of the New York City Ballet Company last summer in an exquisite performance. On select Sundays during the season, you can catch The Met Live in HD for 12 performances transmitted, yes, live from The Met in NY City to the theatre's new state of the art HD system throughout the Met's season.

You can expand your horizons with classes in ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber arts, acting, jewelry making, gardening and even cooking! The Lake Placid School of Ballet also has its Performing in the Wheelheadquarters here, as do a variety of exercise classes. And the gallery almost always has an exhibit hanging. If you haven't checked out the offerings at this amazing facility, do so please. I took one of the wheel throwing pottery classes last year and produced some very respectable pieces. It was lots of fun, I met some great new people and created many beautiful pieces to show for it. There is so much going on at LPCA I can't even begin to list it here. Check the LPCA website. You can see the wide range of offerings to entertain you or keep you busy. You'll be glad you did.
