LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Keela Rogers, president of Lake Placid Olympic Museum, is pleased to announce that museum staff members Alison Haas and Susanna Fout received the Individual Achievement Award of Merit from the Museum Association of New York. The award was presented at the Museum Association of New York’s Annual Conference on Monday, April 18, 2016.

The Awards of Merit program acknowledges exceptional programs and individuals who have made the state’s museum community richer and more relevant. Awards of Merit are given to institutions or individuals whose work represents outstanding contributions in their category and excellence compared to similar activities throughout New York State.

“To receive this award from the Museum Association of New York truly means so much to us as an organization. It finally feels like all our hard work improving exhibits and creating programs to engage our community more effectively is paying off,” states museum Director Haas.

The organization’s achievements in 2015 are highlighted by the establishment of new exhibits and programs which have increased the museum’s visibility in and relevance to the community. Through community outreach and educational programs, the museum has increased its presence in both the local and broader sports communities. In addition, the museum has made great strides in assuring the preservation and accessibility of its collections.
