Lake Placid, Adirondacks USA – Over 2,000 New York State education leaders are expected to attend the New York State School Board Association’s annual convention and education expo at the Conference Center at Lake Placid Oct. 12-14.

The convention is the largest statewide event that brings together more than education professionals to discuss the needs, interests and issues of concern to school board members across the state.

In its first year in Lake Placid, the large conference has booked rooms throughout Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Wilmington, with most participants staying for three nights beginning Wednesday, Oct. 11.

When not in meetings or workshops, the group will have opportunities in their schedules to visit retail, restaurant and other businesses and to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities that draw most travelers to the region.

“With the conference center’s central location in the Lake Placid village, attendees can easily browse Main Street shops and experience the great restaurants. Hopefully it will expose new future leisure travelers to our spectacular destination,” said Maryjane Lawrence, ROOST’s Chief of Staff.

The sales strategy for the Conference Center at Lake Placid is conducted cooperatively by the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) and ORDA. The strategy includes attracting a combination of regional day business, and multi-day, town-wide conferences.
