Playing In The Snow Just Got More Rewarding
LAKE PLACID, adirondacks, usa — For both adults and children, “snow days” represent something magical and exciting, the perfect opportunity for an extra day of snow-fueled fun, from skiing, skating, tubing, sledding and more. And where better to spend a snow day than Lake Placid in the Adirondacks of New York, which holds the honor of being America’s First Winter Resort.
To celebrate winter, Lake Placid – the world-famous destination which has beckoned visitors to play in the snow for more than 100 years – has created a Perfect Snow Day contest. Travelers across the U.S. and Canada can celebrate what they feel is the perfect day in the snow, creating a video that describes how they would take advantage of winter flurries to invent a Perfect Snow Day in Lake Placid.
Entrants are encouraged to get creative using their smartphone, camera, GoPro or any other video device to create an entry with friends, family or just themselves. Whether currently located on sunny shores, an urban city location or near a winter wonderland already, anyone who shares their love for “winter white” through the contest is entered for a chance to win the grand prize: lodging in Lake Placid for three nights for four people, plus activities based on the Perfect Snow Day the entrant invented in their winning video.
Participants must post the video on YouTube and use the title “Hey Lake Placid, Here’s My Perfect Snow Day!” Organizers will select up to 10 top entries on January 8, 2016 and those finalists’ videos will be aggregated on the contest landing page, www.LakePlacid.com/Come-Play.
Public voting begins on January 10, 2016, making the contest even more exciting and interactive. Entrants should use the hashtag #PerfectSnowDayADK and link to their entry when sharing on social media, so friends, family and the public can view their video and vote. The entrant with the most votes accumulated at the end of the contest will win their Perfect Snow Day in Lake Placid. Winner will be announced on January 31, 2016.
The Lake Placid Perfect Snow Day entry website includes ideas and examples of snowy and fun activities that entrants can include in their Perfect Snow Day activities. In Lake Placid, a perfect day in the snow for some is a snowshoe hike, a day on the ski slopes or a snowball fight. For others, it’s building a snowman, snowflake gazing or a mug of hot chocolate by a fireplace. There are a myriad of snow-centric destination activities to experience from a thrilling bobsled ride to skating around the beautiful Mirror Lake.
