For first timers, consider the John's Brook Area, Marcy Dam, and Lake Colden areas. More challenging routes include the Dix Range, Santanoni Range, and Seward Range. Keep in mind that some of the overnight hikes include unmarked trails—do your research or hire a licensed Adirondack guide to lead your trip.
