WILMINGTON, N.Y. --- For the 19th consecutive year, Lake Placid, N.Y. has been selected as the top destination for Off Hill activities by readers of SKI Magazine. The 22nd annual survey also tabbed Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y., as the fourth top ski resort in the eastern United States. The rankings were announced in the magazine's October special issue.

Whiteface, Wilmington and Lake Placid also received high marks from the magazine's readers for its scenery (#2), resort dining (#3), après ski (#3), mountain character (#4), family programs (#7), challenging terrain (#7), overall terrain (#9), overall satisfaction (#9) and lodging (#10).

The start of another exciting skiing and riding season is just around the corner. The 2011-12 season is expected to begin, conditions permitting, Friday, Nov. 25. New upgrades this season include seven new automated snow guns, a Pisten Bully Snow Groomer, the new Rossignol Experience rental ski center and enhanced on-mountain dining.
