Sue Rathbun, Chair of the Ticonderoga Montcalm Partnership said early this week, "Streetfest on Saturday July 31 will be great."

Montcalm Street, the main thoroughfare in Ticonderoga, will be closed from Lake George Ave. at the Sunshine Laundry to Champlain Ave. at the corner of the Glens Falls National Bank in order to provide space for arts and craft vendors, specialty food kiosks, sidewalk sales, a farmers' market, and the display of antique cars, boats and other interesting exhibits.  The street will close at 8:00 am for set-up, with the event starting at 10:00 am.  Fort Ticonderoga's award winning Fife and Drum Corps will open the event with a performance down the center of the street, followed by other musical groups who will provide live entertainment  throughout the day.

"Downtown Ticonderoga will become a festive pedestrian mall with food, live entertainment, interesting things to see, and opportunities to purchase unique crafts and gifts," said Rathbun.  Participating vendors include artisans specializing in wood crafts, toys, jewelry, glass, rustic furniture and many other unique items. Additionally, Penelope the Clown will be on hand with her renown face painting and balloon art for kids. Kids' activities and tasty treats from snow-cones to deep-fried Oreos and fried dough will also be featured. Several downtown restaurants are offering meal and drink specials, while outdoor food vendors will be providing specialty snacks. The event will close at 4:00 pm with the street reopening to vehicular traffic at 5:00 pm.

A complete list of participating crafters, car and boat owners, and the location of each participant and display on the street will be available to visitors as they enter either end of the closed portion of Montcalm Street.

"Our first Streetfest last year was a great success," said Rathbun. "And we're determined that this year will be bigger and better.  We look forward to welcoming people from the whole area of northern New York as well as our friends from across Lake Champlain in Vermont.  It will be a great day, and if it rains, we'll hold Streetfest on Sunday, August 1st."
