International Olympic and Paralympic Day Schedule Set

ORDA to host a celebration of movement and its Olympic legacy on June 23

Lake Placid, NY – The New York Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) will host a series of activities on Thursday, June 23, commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games and the establishment of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The day celebrates being active and living the Olympic values around the three pillars of Olympic Day, “move, learn and discover,” and is marked by hundreds of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from around the world.

Move: The featured event is the Olympic & Paralympic Day run/walk/wheel, a traditional Olympic Day activity that displays the unifying power of sport and encourages being active.

Learn: ORDA hosts athletes and events throughout the year. The benefits of the modernized training facilities continue to contribute to the Olympic movement.

Discover: From the days when the Olympics took place to today, sporting events bring Olympians to our region. Whether to train, compete, coach, or even judge, our community is constantly filled with memories, experiences, and talents.
