This route offers a well-rounded winter adventure, as climbers need to ski or snowshoe the Jackrabbit Trail before arriving at the remote base of Pitchoff Mountain. Considered some of the best moderate ice climbing in the Adirondacks.
North Face of Pitchoff trailhead: Take Old Mountain Road off Route 73 just north of Mt. Van Hoevenberg, on the right if you're heading heading toward Lake Placid.
