Top fall events in Lake Placid

Lake Placid Classic Half Marathon

Mid-September seems to be the perfect time for a running race — and this year is no exception. The 46th Annual Lake Placid Classic Half Marathon & 10K speeds through town with hundreds of participants. It’s a sight to behold as the mass start kicks off from the speed skating oval, up Main Street, around Mirror Lake, and out along the scenic course. The running race starts at 9 a.m., preceded by the walkers at 8:30 a.m.

Ragnar Relay Adirondacks

Ragnar Relay Adirondacks rolls into town in late-September. Arriving in Lake Placid marks the final leg of a team relay event that begins in Saratoga Springs the day before. Teams of athletes run a relay race non-stop through the day and night, raising funds for their designated charities in what has become a popular and pretty cool annual event. If you’re traveling around the Lake Champlain, Whiteface, and High Peaks Regions during the two-day event, you’re likely to see the athletes along the highways and byways of the route, many dressed in whimsical outfits.

Celebrating the Flaming Leaves

Celebrating the spectacle of the flaming leaves is a great excuse for a party at the Olympic Jumping Complex!  The two-day Flaming Leaves Festival is a terrific combination of ski jumping demonstrations and competition (yes, without snow), BBQ, brews, and blues. Some great live blues entertainment is combined with one of the last BBQ's of the season along with a great selection of thirst-quenching brews.  In addition, the chairlift will whisk you to the top of the hill, followed by a ride in the glass elevator to the top of the 120-meter ski jump where you'll get a 360-degree view of the surrounding hillsides and High Peaks, ablaze with spectacular fall foliage. You won't want to miss this event!

In addition to our Lake Placid events, one of the most popular fall events takes place at our very close neighbor, The Whiteface Region. Falling in early-October, Whiteface Mountain holds a two-day Oktoberfest event celebrating all the traditions of Bavaria, right in our back yard. Don't miss this fun event filled with live music, great food, and family-fun!

Fall in the Adirondacks is filled with events celebrating the season of flaming leaves and the fall harvest season  Lake Placid plays host to many of these Adirondack events. Plan ahead with lodging reservations for any of your overnights to attend events as rooms fill up early on hese very popular weeks — especially during peak foliage. Make sure to check out our other events throughout the year as well.
