Car buff alert!

Taking place over Labor Day Weekend, Saturday’s events will include a cruise night around Main Street and Mirror Lake beginning at 6 pm. Be on the lookout! Nearly 100 cars typically participate in the show each year. On Sunday, the classic car parade begins at noon with cars parading down Main Street from Saranac Avenue. A Lake Placid Classic

Mid-September seems to be the perfect time for a running race and this year is no exception. The 45th Annual Lake Placid Classic Half Marathon & 10K hits town on Saturday, September 12th this year. With hundreds of participants, it’s a sight to behold as the mass start kicks off from the speed skating oval, up Main Street and around Mirror Lake. The running race starts at 9 a.m., preceded by the walkers at 8:30 a.m.

Speaking of running……

Ragnar Relay Adirondacks rolls into town on Saturday, September 26th for the final leg of a team relay event. The race begins in Saratoga Springs on Friday, September 25th. Teams of athletes run a relay race non-stop through the day and night, raising funds for their designated charities in what has become a popular and pretty cool annual event. If you’re traveling around the Lake Champlain, Whiteface and High Peaks Regions during the two-day event, you’re likely to see the athletes along the highways and byways of the route - all day and night.

The awe inspiring alpenhorns at Oktoberfest
The awe inspiring alpenhorns at Oktoberfest

Ok, folks, dust off the lederhosen and grab your beer steins and head on down to Whiteface Mountain Oktoberfest on October 3rd and 4th. This ever-popular fall event celebrates the Bavarian holidays of the harvest with this annual folk fest. With a mixture of attractions including live Bavarian entertainment, kids rides and activities, gondola rides, bag jump and more, as well as some amazing food, and, of course, beer, everyone should have a great time! Plan an entire day (or attend both days!) and take the gondola to the top of Little Whiteface when you need a break. You can sit back and relax and enjoy the cool air, and peace & quiet of the alpine summit. Arrange for your lodging well in advance as this is a very popular weekend!

Also plan ahead for the festivals of October 10th and 11th weekend, including Flaming Leaves and Brewfest. More to come on those two great events taking place on Columbus Day weekend!
