July 4th......... conjures up many memories of celebrations from the past of hot dogs, bbq, parades, fireworks, concerts, boating, swimming, sunning, horse shows, theatre, movies....... ahhh, memories.

While compiling the list of activities for my weekly report on regional events, I nearly ran out of space on the page. This coming weekend is chock full of activities for everyone. You will not have to wrack your brain looking for something to fill your time and create perfect days of memories this holiday weekend!

Looking for a food related activity? The I Love BBQ and Music Festival takes place in Lake Placid from July 2 - 4 on the speedskating oval. There will be sizzling BBQ competition including the Junior World Championship, live musical entertainment, food vendors, kids activities and the Krusher Stunt BMX Team performing. You can find the entire ILBBQ weekend schedule here.

If it's a parade you'd like to take in, try Essex or Westport on Saturday, Lake Placid on Monday. Fireworks abound during the weekend, including Friday in Essex, Saturday in Westport and Monday in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga. Lake Placid's fireworks extravaganza, Set the Night to Music, has become famous in the region for it's dramatic musical sound track to a voluminous fireworks show. Speakers will be set up at Mid's Park and the public beach area for listening in, or bring your radio and tune in to 93.3 FM.
