| The Adirondack Mountains are many, varied and massive with 46 peaks rising above 4,000 feet. The tallest are here in the Lake Placid/High Peaks Region and include Whiteface, Algonquin & Marcy. At 5,344 feet, Marcy’s summit is the highest point in New York State. Our fantastic Adirondack hiking options can put you on top of the highest peak, Mount Marcy. We can direct you to other strenuous hikes up one of our 46 High Peaks, or a lesser, but perhaps an equally scenic easy jaunt to many other spectacular vistas. Or, you can limit your walk to a leisurely stroll down a long-abandoned logging road that offers both scenery and serenity, or slip away from the Lake Placid village's business district for a relaxing walk around Mirror Lake or along the Peninsula Nature Trails.
