We Like To Call It Home
Ask anyone who has the good fortune to call this region home, and they will tell you there are few places as rewarding to live in as Lake Placid. But this mountain village is so much more than striking views, a magnificent landscape, and beautiful lakes — it's about community, a shared sensibility, and an underlying understanding that by living here, you're part of something special.
Why We Became Locals
Outdoor enthusiasts choose to live here for one simple fact: No matter where you turn, you are surrounded by nature. Walk out your door and within minutes you can lose yourself on a hiking trail, put in at a favorite paddling spot, or ski down a world-famous mountain. The view from Main Street says it all. Enjoy the jagged, mountain-lined horizon from the shore of Mirror Lake, or strap on your boots and do a challenging hike up one of the High Peaks, the biggest of which are over 5,000 feet in elevation.
An excellent place to raise a family, Lake Placid is also home to a diverse and prestigious selection of schools with small classroom sizes and year-round activities for the whole family to enjoy. Others agree! We were voted Best Halloween Town for our kiddie parade and Main Street Trick or Treat. And if you have little ones, don't miss our kids dance party and the Holiday Stroll, a weekend dedicated to Santa, family, health, and outdoor fun.
Life in Lake Placid is captivating and rejuvenating all at once, and we hope you love it as much as we do. Find more information about living in Lake Placid and available resources pertaining to real estate services, local and regional businesses, and relocation to Lake Placid above.
