Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa — Lake Placid will welcome more than 2,100 attendees for the Anytime Fitness annual conference from Sept. 8 to 10, during which conference organizers will attempt to break three Guinness World Records.

Anytime Fitness is a gym franchise with locations throughout the United States and beyond, making this an international conference. Those attending the Lake Placid conference are in large part club owners and/or managers.

Based at the Conference Center at Lake Placid, this group will host a busy agenda of workshops and events throughout the village, and have purposely allowed room in their schedules to visit retail, restaurant and other businesses and to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities that draw most travelers to the region.

The group will be on their own for breakfast and lunch each day, so restaurants are expected to see a large volume of business for these meals. "This group works hard and plays hard,” said Libby Crooker, vice president of international affairs and meeting planner for Anytime Fitness. ”They are huge coffee drinkers and will be visiting all of the local pubs regularly, so be prepared!”

"We are fortunate to have been able to evaluate last year’s annual conference in Nashville to gain a better idea of this group’s needs, said Jackie Kelly, conference center coordinator at the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA). “This is a very active group that will not only be experiencing all that the village has to offer, but will utilize the entire Conference Center, the Olympic Center and will be hosting a large event at the ski jumps, too.”

On Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m., all are welcome to watch as the group will gather at the Speed Skating Oval to make three separate Guinness World Records attempts: the most people doing a plank, a squat and jumping jacks, each for one minute in one location.

“Unique activities, the gorgeous landscape and the fact that they will essentially have the entire village to themselves have boosted attendance from Anytime Fitness.” said Maryjane Lawrence, sales service and operations director for the Conference Center. “We’re looking forward to a great week with this enthusiastic, active group.”

The sales strategy for the Conference Center at Lake Placid is conducted cooperatively by the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) and ORDA. The strategy includes attracting a combination of regional day business, and multi-day, town-wide conferences.
