LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Summit Lacrosse Ventures, formerly Lake Placid Lacrosse, is set to bring two events to Lake Placid this summer that will carry significant economic impact to Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa.

The combination of the first Lake Placid Youth Summit Classic next month, followed by the traditional Summit Lacrosse Tournament, will provide opportunities for players ages 9 to over 60 to participate in the world’s oldest game.

“The beauty and hospitality of Lake Placid gives us the perfect backdrop for our tournaments, and has done so for over 25 years now,” said George Leveille, Lake Placid Lacrosse founder and events organizer. “To be able to add our youth event serves a high level of interest from these players and their families, while also helping the community begin its summer season, especially early in the week.”

The inaugural Lake Placid Summit Youth Classic, June 27-29, will bring boys, from first through eighth grades, and their families, to the village for a Monday to Wednesday event. Titles will be determined in the age categories of U15, U13, U11 and U9, with action to take place at the North Elba Show Grounds off Route 73.

Approximately 3,500-4,000 competitors, families and officials will descend upon the village.

The competition is just one facet of the youth experience, as Summit organizers are working with local tourism officials to develop off-field educational and entertainment activities for participants and parents, highlighting the area’s winter sports heritage.

The 2016 Summit Lacrosse Tournament, which debuted in 1990 as a post-collegiate get-together, will be held Aug. 1-7, also at the North Elba Show Grounds in Lake Placid. Now in its 27th year, some 250 teams, ranging from high school to Masters Division players, and their families, bring nearly $5 million in direct spending to the Lake Placid region, based on 2015 attendance.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to bring athletes and families from around the region and nation to experience Lake Placid - not once, but twice,” said Ashley Gersuk, CEO of Summit Lacrosse Ventures. “Many of these young players accompany their parents in August, and we look forward to offering these kids their own chance to compete in Lake Placid.”

In between tournaments, Summit Lacrosse Ventures will host the Northstar Invitational, one of the most prestigious women’s lacrosse recruiting events in the country. Taking place July 25-28 at Northwood School in Lake Placid, the Northstar Invitational, for 150 girls from the United States and Canada who will enter grades 9-11 this fall, is a development event as well as a showcase in front college coaches. Leadership and mental fitness activities, as well as sports performance testing, will be included.
