Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa - The Lake Placid Horse Shows have been named one of the top 10 shows of 2014 by the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame. 

 

The National Show Hunter Hall of Fame honors excellence in the horse show world by providing recognition, education and appreciation for the achievements of the horsemen and horses who have made the sport so rich in history. The Lake Placid Horse Shows received the prestigious award in recognition of its overall excellence, and were selected collectively as one of the top horse shows in the country by trainers, owners and riders, who voted by ballot.

 

"It's an honor to be nominated out of all the horse shows across the country," said Walter "Jimmy" Lee, chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame, and also a long-time horse show judge. "The horse shows that made the ballot are more than just horse shows; they are special shows that are also special within their community.”

 

The Lake Placid Horse Shows have been hosting the nation's best horses and riders for 45 years, and will once again host three amazing weeks of top horse show competition this summer, June 23-July 11, offering more than $750,000 in prize money.

 

The Lake Placid Horse Show has grown from a one-week competition in 1970 to the three-week event that has since become the must-attend summer event for horsemen for over 40 years.  2014 marked the inaugural year that the Lake Placid Horse Show Association added a third consecutive week of show jumping competition.  

 

“The Horse Shows continue to attract world-class participants, an effectively kick off the summer visitor season," said James McKenna, president of the Lake Placid CVB/Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism. “This award underscores Lake Placid’s status in this market as the home of one of the country’s most preeminent equestrian events.”
