Dec. 2-4: AMERICAS CUP BOBSLED AND SKELETON RACING 

Dec. 9-11: LAKE PLACID VILLAGE HOLIDAY STROLL 

Dec. 10 --FESTIVUS FACE-OFF
ECAC Div. I men's ice hockey: St. Lawrence University faces off against north country rival Clarkson University, and Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute square off in the Festivus Face-off at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid.

Dec. 30 -- STARS ON ICE
Stars On Ice, presented by Smucker's, returns to Lake Placid this holiday season, Friday, Dec. 30, at 7:30 p.m., with performers including Kurt Browning, Jamie Sale & David Pelletier, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto, Todd Eldredge, Joannie Rochette, Ryan Bradley, and more. The show will be recorded for network television and broadcast in early 2012.

Jan. 19-21 -- FIS NATURE VALLEY FREESTYLE WORLD CUP
The world's best freestyle skiers compete in the FIS Nature Valley Freestyle World Cup. Action will take place at the Olympic Jumping Complex and Whiteface Mountain. The jumping complex will host the men and women's aerials competitions, where athletes twist and soar as high as 60 feet in the air before landing, while Whiteface, in Wilmington, N.Y., will be the site of the moguls competitions.

Feb. 2-5 EMPIRE STATE WINTER GAMES
The 32nd Annual competition is the largest multi-sport amateur athletic winter sporting event in North America. 

Feb. 4 -- LAKE PLACID LOPPET
Open to classical and freestyle skiers, the Loppet is a 50k race (31-miles). Because this course was designed for Olympic competition, it is more challenging than most citizen race courses. The 25-kilometer Kort Loppet, also open for classical and freestyle skiers, features a vertical climb of 1,850 feet. The Lake Placid Loppet is part of the American Ski Marathon Series.

Feb. 13-27 -- BOBSLED AND SKELETON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
World championship bobsled and skeleton action returns to the Mt. Van Hoevenberg sliding complex. In 1949, Lake Placid became the first village outside of Europe to host a world championship event. Since then, the two-time Olympic village has staged eight world championship races, most recently in 2009, when Steve Holcomb piloted his four-man sled to victory, claiming the United States' first four-man crown since 1959.
