Lake Placid Vacations

English French German

Lake Placid is a unique community. We've played host to the world for many, many years now both as a summer resort and a winter escape. We offer resort amenities in the middle of a wild forest. People here wear wetsuits and formal wear in the same day.

As a tourism organization - it's our job to promote the area and encourage visitation. We've tried to figure out the key thing - the MUST DO activity for people when they come here. (You know, like visiting the Eiffel Tower when in Paris.) If we could figure that out, then we can try to find more people that like to do that one MUST DO thing, and invite them over.

We've done the research - and all signs concluded that there just isn't a one-size fits all activity that's a MUST DO - it varies depending on the individual, couple, group or family.

Some make the trip because they heard from a friend about this little town up north and wanted to see it for themselves. Some are attending a Can/Am hockey camp, one of the Lake Placid Horse Shows, or a lacrosse tournament and some are triathletes here for Ironman Lake Placid.... and through the years, the town has learned to welcome one and all - basically, by not getting in their way.

And for that reason, we are telling people to go ahead - Invent Your Own Perfect Day. You decide what it is that will make the most of the time you have to spend in our town.

But planning can be boring...instead, we invite you to use your imagination and dive into outdoor adventures, soak up scenic views, and enjoy savory dining experiences in one of the many Lake Placid restaurants. And it doesn't matter if you prefer to spend your nights outside under the stars or in one of our luxurious Lake Placid hotels; options abound. Be sure to check out the Spare Parts list. This is a set of whimsical items we are slowly adding; things that you might not think of when you're planning a trip.

So start planning your perfect trip—and when you're ready, you can book a reservation online and receive instant confirmation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
