High Falls Gorge

Along the base of Whiteface Mountain, the famous AuSable River flows through a breathtaking 700 foot long gorge and catapults over four splendid waterfalls into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago by ice, water and wind. Groomed paths, steel bridges and walkways with glass floor sections bring visitors down into the gorge and provide safe, close access to plunging waterfalls as the river flows through dark pools, pot holes and the splendor of the Gorge. Signs along the way tell the story of the formation of this natural wonder. Summer highlights the wildflowers, foliage and unique colors of the gorge.
