Enjoy Family Fun in the Adirondacks
Although you may have come to the Adirondacks to hike the High Peaks, you and your family can spend many hours enjoying a variety of authentic Adirondack attractions.
Ausable Chasm and High Falls Gorge, some of America's first natural attractions, offer stunning views of the river gorge and provide insight into how water can carve its way through the landscape. Then, head over to the Wild Center (The Wall Street Journal called it "glorious" in their review), and explore the wild nature of the Adirondacks. Drive a little further and visit the Adirondack Museum and learn how man settled these wilderness expanses and learned to live in harmony with the environment.
A visit to Forts Ticonderoga (American's Fort) and Crown Point can provide a trip to the French and Indian War era. You might even find a reenactment taking place!
Closer to town you can tour the Olympic sites, and possibly take a bob-sled ride!
Take a ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, and see the beautiful Adirondacks by train!
Along the way, you'll find a variety of Lake Placid dining options available to nourish your family while you rest up for the rest of the day's activities.
