This peak does not deserve its obscurity. A walk along the western shore of Lake Placid continues through the woods, while the ascent ends with expansive views. Make it a "saddleback pair" with McKenzie Mountain.
Moose Mountain Trailhead: Leave Lake Placid heading west on Rt 86. Turn north onto Whiteface Inn Road for 1.5 miles, left on Chipmunk Lane, and follow to large turnaround at the end where there is parking. This is the easier route with a long woods walk.
