Lake Colby

Waterbody:

Lake Colby

Directions to Access Points:

From the intersection of Route 3 and Route 86 in Saranac Lake, follow Route 86 toward Paul Smiths. Continue to Lake Colby on the left across from the hospital. There is a boat launch and grassy area at this location.

Shoreline Fishing:

Shoreline fishing is pretty good along Route 86 which is also the only adequate location to do so. All species can be caught from shore but salmon are best trolled for by boat. There is plenty of overhead space to cast with freedom as well.

Boat access:

The boat launch is right off Route 86 just past the grassy shoreline area. For best fishing opportunities a boat is best. Troll for salmon or cast for perch, and you will nail them all day long. The northwest bay is a great spot to hang out as the cool waters of a small inlet keep the fish coming back.

Fish Species Types:

Smallmouth Bass, Landlocked Salmon, Panfish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout

Special Regulations:

Always Follow State fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office.
