When you think of Lake Placid, I’m sure many other words come to mind other than "Halloween." Olympics, hiking, destination vacation... sure, but Halloween? Well, after you finish reading this, it just might! After all, Lake Placid did receive the distinguished honor from Travel + Leisure in 2013 as one of the best towns in America to celebrate Halloween! As a self-proclaimed avid hiker, sometimes I don’t always have time for a four-to-five hour hike, or even a one-to-two hour hike for that matter. Luckily, we have many quick hikes that still offer excellent views! I have chosen my three favorite short hikes to share.  First Up: Owls Head in Keene Let’s clarify which “Owls Head” this actually is. So, there are three hikes in the Adirondacks with a similar name: “Owl Head Lookout” in Elizabethtown, “Owls Head Mountain” in Long Lake, and the one I’m writing about, “Owls Head” in Keene. It’s July. It’s hot! And this town has three delicious places to grab a freshly brewed beer! What is better than grabbing a fresh, local craft brew after a day of strenuous (or not) outdoor recreation? Nothing, in my opinion!  I love going for a nice hike, swim, paddling and grabbing a beer after my hard days work.
