Who doesn’t love a good spa day? We all deserve a little pampering and relaxation every once and a while, right? I personally think so, and it's been a long winter so I decided it was time to head to a spa…or two. There are two absolutely incredible spas in Lake Placid, and since I had a hard time deciding which one to go to for services, I split them up and went to both.  My first stop was the Whiteface Lodge Resort & Spa. I’ve never been to the Whiteface Lodge’s spa, and I’ve never had a facial, so I was excited for both experiences. I was told the HydraFacial at the Lodge is amazing... continue reading

Can you do a triple axel? That’s my favorite question I get as a figure skater. No, I cannot do a triple axel, but yes, I can tell you about the 2017 Bridgestone Skate America, which will take place in Lake Placid on November 24-26. I know you don’t understand how we can spin that fast and not get dizzy, or how we do two rotations in the air and land on one blade on the ice. To be honest, sometimes I don't even understand it, but that's what makes the sport so exciting. A trip to Lake Placid is worth it on its own, but Skate America will be the icing on the cake.  Lake Placid was an... continue reading

If I had to choose my favorite route for a motorcycle ride in the Adirondacks it would be a cruise from Keene to Lake Placid. When I hear the roar of the engine start, I immediately get excited for this ride along route 73. It's filled with stunning views and a long stretch of road that twists and turns, making it an ideal ride for me to enjoy as a passenger. Leaving Keene feels like we are ascending a mountain as we climb the curving road up, up, and away. Finally when we've made it to what seems to be the top and we pass both of the Cascade lakes  - one of... continue reading

Anyone who knows me knows that I am infatuated with weddings! I’m not engaged (even though I’ve been with my boyfriend for over three years…hint, hint), but I’ve been planning my own wedding in my head for as long as I can remember. In a world of 7 billion people, I believe that it is a true blessing to find someone you choose to share the rest of your life with. It wasn’t until I started my job as a wedding planning assistant at The Whiteface Club and Resort that I realized the intricacies involved in planning, and also what Lake Placid offers to those getting married. Unparalleled scenery,... continue reading

So it’s that time of year again. The day that your spouse has been waiting for since it ended last year. Opening day of hunting season. It’s that time of year when the they spend every weekend in the woods, and you get to spend every weekend without them. You’ve become a hunting widow. Now don’t get me wrong, I know how to load and shoot a gun, but a man’s obsession with hunting is something I might not ever completely understand. Who wants to sit in a tree stand all day, crossing your fingers, hoping that a deer walks out in front of you? Probably not me (at least not this year). So, I've... continue reading

It’s finally fall, and what a perfect time of year to tie the knot! I’ve been obsessed with weddings for quite some time now. I’ve watched every wedding chick flick that you can think of. After watching The Wedding Planner, who doesn’t want to be J.Lo living in the city, planning everyone's dream day? I even went to college in hopes of becoming a wedding planner and did an internship at a local resort as the assistant to the wedding planner there. So, with 7 billion people in this world, I think there’s something to be said about finding one other person you’re willing to share your entire... continue reading
