One of my favorite parts about traveling is finding the best restuarants in the destination. This can be a difficult task because, well, I don't know the area. I have found the best way to find out the real gems in a town is to ask the locals. You can ask any local from a bartender, to a clerk at the local bookstore where to dine, and hopefully they will steer you in the right direction, but how do you know if you have the same taste? How do you know they really know what they are talking about? Well, the only real way to know is to experience the places on your own. Lake Placid has so many... continue reading

Downtown Lake Placid's backdrop is stunning, with mountain views set along the shores of Mirror Lake. People on kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards line up along the water's edge to hear the Songs on the Lake. This seven week music series brings so much to downtown Lake Placid in the summer months, and the very best part is that it's free. Travelers and locals bring blankets and lawn chairs to the grassy area known as Mid's Park. The natural setting is a perfect spot to sit and watch live acts of all kinds, from regional to national. Even famous acts like Rusted Root have played this series.... continue reading

Lake Placid, A Perfect Summer Getaway The word vacation was invented in the Adirondacks, this came about as the wealthy of Boston and New York city vacated the city for the fresh mountain air of the Adirondacks. Once you visit you will understand why. Maybe it is the feeling you get as soon as you enter the park. The feeling of relaxation as the real world problems melt away. Breathing in the mountain air. Whatever it is that creates that feeling of peace, it is evident in the Adirondacks. Nestled in the mountains is the village of Lake Placid. Travelers have vacationed here for generations... continue reading

Come to Lake Placid for the scenery, and stay for the arts and culture. Lake Placid in the spring and summer is jam packed with events: parades, the horse show, lacrosse, triathlons, and the arts. Yes, the arts. Lake Placid is a destination that has a growing arts scene with live entertainment, theater, concerts, annual film festivals, and art exhibitions by renowned artists. Beginning in May, Lake Placid starts to come out of its winter comfort zone, looking for entertainment once Whiteface Mountain closes. Here are a few things to look for this spring and summer in the Lake Placid arts and... continue reading

I love the night life, and for a small town Lake Placid delivers in a big way. The views at night are just as gorgeous, and very different than they are during the day. This quaint village is buzzing with people all of the time; however, the night is when things really start to shake up. One of the best parts about partying Lake Placid style is that everything is in walking distance, so you can easily bounce around without committing your whole night to one hot spot. You also can call a cab or Uber yourself around, if that's more your style. I prefer walking because I am a multitasker, so I... continue reading

In Lake Placid, the fun doesn’t stop when the sun sets. Yes, there’s a thriving music scene here, and if you know where to look you can get in on the action. The best part is, the music isn't confined to weekends. On any given night you can walk into a bar and hear a local band tearing it up, a traveling band fresh off of an overseas tour, or a world class symphony creating a beautiful soundscape. Here are some venues to get you started, but be sure to keep your ears open while you're in Lake Placid — you never know what you'll come across! Zig Zags Pub This bar has a local feel, and it’s... continue reading

Hi there! My name is Nibbler. I'm psyched because today, I get to invent my own purrrrrrfect day in Lake Placid, one of my favorite places on earth!  1. The lake  I'm starting my day with a morning paddle, and there's plenty of places to do it in and around Lake Placid! There's nothing like getting on the lake to forget your troubles and find your zen. And while I'm at it, I'm going to catch a fish or two to munch on. 2. MTB Next I'll head to the trails to shred some singletrack. I'm just going to take a little break under here while this dude catches some air.  3. Vino What a fun... continue reading
