RELIVE THE MIRACLE ON ICE

Once upon a time in a tiny mountain village in the Adirondacks, a young, rag-tag US Olympic Hockey Team took on the most powerful force in hockey in the world: the Soviet Union. And they beat them 4-3. On February 21st at 7:30 pm, many of the members of that hockey team will converge on Lake Placid to celebrate the 35th anniversary of what's been proclaimed by sports analysts around the world as the greatest moment in sports history, the "Miracle on Ice." The 1980 Olympic Hockey Team Reunion will be a combination of team memories, audio/video presentations, special appearances and the opportunity to relive that moment in history right here in the same arena, above the same ice as it happened 35 years ago. Some surprises are also in store for the audience. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans not only of hockey, but of history and legend. I can pretty much guarantee that if you don't attend this awesome event, you'll wish you had.

RE-LIGHT THE OLYMPIC CAULDRON

A week prior to the hockey team reunion, Lake Placid village will once again light the Olympic Flame Cauldron in celebration of the Opening Ceremony of the XIII Olympic Winter Games. 35 years later to the day, February 13, 2015, a group of decorated athletes will run a torch from the 1980 Olympic Center, Herb Brooks Arena, along a route to the Flame Tower at the Lake Placid Show Grounds. At 6pm, the public is invited to watch and celebrate as we honor our Olympic heritage by once again lighting the flame. This event is free and open to the public, so please join in the celebration! The flame will burn until midnight that evening as a symbol of Lake Placid's dedication to the Olympic ideals, winter sports and the important role sports and Olympics have played in the history of the Village.
